Paul McCartney And John Lennon May Be Headed For A New Hot 100 Hit (As Songwriters)

Paul McCartney and John Lennon are two of the most successful songwriters in American history. Together as Lennon-McCartney–the name applied to their biggest hits in the credits–they’ve scored more wins on the Hot 100 than most songwriters can dream of, and many of their singles were not just quick hits, but smashes that have enjoyed meaningful legacies. In a few days, the two will likely return to Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed songs in the U.S., though they don’t have a new track.

Lennon and McCartney are credited as songwriters on Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s new album. The superstar covered The Beatles’ “Blackbird,” and it’s well on its way to becoming at least a minor hit on the charts in a few days.

For her rendition of “Blackbird,” Beyoncé has played around with the tune. Instead of it being a solo affair, the composition is now a group effort. Beyoncé credited fellow singers Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy on the cut, who will all score an important hit in short order. She also renamed it slightly, as now there are two “i”s in the title, which is in keeping with the formatting she’s chosen for this collection.

There’s a good chance that Beyoncé’s “Blackbird” will hit the Hot 100 after Cowboy Carter has enjoyed a full tracking week. Most, if not all, of the tunes featured on the full-length will likely reach the competitive tally, upping Bey’s career total number of placements significantly–perhaps by 20 or more.

The Beatles’ “Blackbird” never made it to the Hot 100, despite its immense popularity. The chart was formatted differently back in the late ‘60s, and only major singles reached the list. The song was featured on the band’s self-titled set, which is otherwise known simply as The White Album. It never earned its time to shine on the Hot 100 like so many other tracks from the group, but that may change soon.

Lennon and McCartney recently scored a new Hot 100 hit as songwriters just last year. The Beatles returned with their first single in decades, “Now and Then,” which unsurprisingly became a smash. That tune opened inside the top 10, bringing the Fab Four back to the highest tier on the tally.

“Blackbird” may become one of the top-performing cuts from Cowboy Carter, based solely on its position on the album. As fans stream the set in huge numbers, they’re more likely to play–and replay–the earlier cuts, while those later in the tracklist may not reach the same heights. There are some standouts on the project–based on how they ranked on platforms like iTunes and Spotify–but generally, with an album as massive as Beyoncé’s, the earlier the tune appears, the better its chances of finding its way to the Hot 100.

The Best Wet Dog Food To Keep Your Pup Healthy And Nourished

Sales of wet dog food have been rising, and for good reason: Beyond just seeming more appealing to many dogs, the best wet dog food is frequently packed with the same amount of protein as dry food—just with fewer carbs. Of course, the convenience of dry kibble is hard to beat, and when it comes to deciding between dry versus wet, “it really is just personal preference,” confirms Joseph Wakshlag, DVM, PhD, professor of nutrition at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. That said, Wakshlag maintains that wet food can be helpful for pups in need of extra hydration, especially if they struggle with health conditions like urinary stones and diabetes. Our top choice for 2024 is the Hill’s Science Diet Adult Wet Dog Food, which offers quality ingredients, time-tested integrity and ample flavor options.

If you need yet another reason to invest in wet dog food, take it from Elena Leavitt, DVM, small animal clinical nutrition instructor at the Missouri University College of Veterinary Medicine: This type of food really does appeal to more four-legged consumers. Wet food, she claims, “can have higher palatability due to smell [and] texture.” That said, as Leavitt reminds, it’s important to consult with your vet before making any big changes in your pup’s feeding routine. But if you’ve already got the green light on wet dog food, consider one of these top options for your pooch.

Why Trust Forbes Vetted

The editors at Forbes Vetted report on pet products regularly. We’re also pet owners and have personally served some of the options that made our list to our favorite furry friends, giving us real-world knowledge into how well our dogs and other dogs respond to their flavor and quality. For this article, we consulted with two veterinarians to help pet owners determine what to look for in wet dog food: Joseph Wakshlag, DVM, PhD, professor of nutrition at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Elena Leavitt, DVM, small animal clinical nutrition instructor at University of Missouri’s Veterinary Health Center.

How We Chose The Best Wet Dog Food

To choose the best pet food, we consulted with two veterinarians for information on ingredients, nutrition and other elements to consider when choosing the right food for your dog. From there, we looked at the most popular wet dog foods on the market and narrowed the field based on elements like quality of ingredients, serving sizes and value. Only foods with reviews of an average of four or more stars were considered and included. Customer insight into how well their dogs liked the food was also factored into our final decision.

What To Look For In The Best Wet Dog Food

When selecting wet dog food, consider several key factors for your pet’s well-being. Keep in mind factors such as the ingredients’ quality, nutritional value and your personal budget. Additionally, you might want to assess the following components:

Your Pet’s Individual Needs

“Generally, I would recommend discussing daily or maintenance energy requirements with your primary care veterinarian,” Leavitt says. “Based on this, veterinarians and owners can together determine the ideal split of canned vs. kibble for each healthy individual pet, based on owner preference, optimal management for conditions and making sure appropriate calories are being consumed from a complete and balanced source.” If you’re concerned that your dog has sensitivities to food, she recommends sticking with a protein source you know your pet can easily tolerate. “Unfortunately for pets, food sensitivities can be learned when new foods are fed with foods that cause a reaction,” Leavitt says.

Ingredients

Veterinarians generally recommend choosing dog foods that are high in quality sources of protein such as chicken, beef, turkey and fish, along with carbohydrates and fat. (Like human foods, ingredients lists spell out the most commonly included ingredients first.) However, every dog is different. If your pet has an underlying health condition, Leavitt says it’s best to consult with your vet to ensure you’re feeding them the right foods.

Nutrition Adequacy Statement

When choosing a food for your pet, it’s helpful to seek out a nutritional adequacy statement on the label. The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO), for example, sets nutrient- and ingredient-based standards for pet foods, including wet dog food. “Like any other pet food, it is ideal to feed something that has an AAFCO nutritional guarantee, which ensures it has proper nutrition and no deficiencies,” Wakshlag says.

Is Wet Canned Dog Food Good For Dogs?

Yes, wet canned dog food is good for dogs and has several benefits. It has a higher water content (in fact, water may often be listed as the first ingredient in some recipes) and can help your four-legged friend stay hydrated throughout the day. Wet food also tends to be higher in protein and fat, which can help support your dog’s muscles, skin, immune system and more. A high-protein diet is especially helpful for senior dogs who need to maintain proper muscle mass. Beyond the nutritional benefits, wet food might be more appetizing and flavorful to your pup; it’s usually made with fresh or fresh-frozen foods.

What Wet Dog Food Do Vets Recommend?

The right wet food for your dog depends on their age, breed, activity level, known allergies, and body condition, making it crucial to tailor their diet accordingly. Always consult your veterinarian for personalized advice before making any dietary changes, and ensure a gradual transition to prevent any potential stomach issues. Additionally, observe your dog’s response to the new food to ensure it suits their individual needs and preferences.

Should You Mix Wet Dog Food With Dry Food?

Yes, you can mix wet dog food with dry dog food. Using a mixture can be an affordable alternative to an all-wet food diet, as wet food and fresh or fresh-frozen foods tend to be more expensive. Some dogs also prefer the added texture of dry kibble mixed with canned food. Keep in mind that if your pup is a slow eater, the wet food might cause the kibble to become soggy after several hours. Finally, it’s a good idea to speak with your veterinarian before making any adjustments to your pet’s diet to ensure you’re meeting their nutritional needs.

‘Will Trent’ Renewed For Season 3 By ABC

ABC has announced a third season renewal for the 20th Television procedural crime drama Will Trent, which is based on the series of novels of the same name by Karin Slaughter. The series, which premiered on January 3, 2023, follows Ramón Rodriguez as the titular special agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s foster care system. Now, Will uses his unique point of view to pursue justice.

The early pickup comes as no surprise given the escalating ratings. Most recently, Will Trent rose to a record performance with just over 9 million multiplatform viewers over seven days, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Will Trent also stars Erika Christensen as Angie Polaski, Iantha Richardson as Faith Mitchell, Jake McLaughlin as Michael Ormewood, and Sonja Sohn as Amanda Wagner. Liz Heldens, Dan Thomsen, Slaughter, Oly Obst, Howie Deutch and Ramón Rodriguez executive produce.

News of the Will Trent greenlight comes on the heels of two other ABC drama renewals: Grey’s Anatomy for a record 21st season, extending its crown as the longest-running medical drama in television history; and 9-1-1, which shifted from Fox to the alphabet network this season and is confirmed for season eight.

Twenty three episodes (13 in season one, and 10 in this current second season) have been produced for Will Trent. There is no word on the number of episodes ordered for season three.

Does Chris Pine Sing In ‘Wish?’ Why He Was Hesitant To Lend His Vocals

Disney’s latest animated film, Wish, made its streaming debut on April 3. As you watch the film and listen to the movie’s soundtrack, you might be wondering whether Chris Pine is really singing in Wish or if it’s another person.

Wish follows a 17-year-old girl named Asha (Ariana DeBose) who lives in the Kingdom of Rosas. When she uncovers a dark secret about her land’s wicked ruler, Magnifico (Chris Pine), she asks the stars for help — including a magical, trouble-making star that fell from the sky. Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Harvey Guillén, and Evan Peters also make up the voice cast.

The film premiered in theaters on November 22, 2024, and made its streaming debut on Disney Plus more than four months later. Songwriters Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice wrote the film’s original songs, while Dave Metzger penned its original score. Songs featured in the movie include “Welcome To Rosas,” “I’m a Star,” “Knowing What I Know Now,” “A Wish Worth Making,” and more.

Does Chris Pine Sing In Wish?

Yes, that really is Chris Pine’s singing voice in Disney’s animated film Wish. Although the actor showcased his vocals in 2014’s Into the Woods, he admitted that he was terrified to sing again. “It’s not my forte, it’s not my background,” Pine told Entertainment Weekly.

In the movie adaptation Into the Woods, Pine played Cinderella’s Prince Charming, and he touched on a specific moment when Stephen Sondheim came into his recording session with the full orchestra. The legendary Broadway composer and lyricist passed away in 2021 at the age of 91.

“As I was coming out, he said, ‘What was that note in the second stanza?’ I said, ‘Oh! B.’ He’s like, ‘It’s an A-flat.’” Pine recalled to EW. “The point being is that he heard me screw up. So, that’s a long way of saying, yes, I was terrified.”

Pine described the style of the songs in Wish, written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice, as “sometimes offbeat to the musical element.” He continued, “There’s a dominant melody line and [Michaels] deliberately plays against it. I think that’s how you really hear the story of the lyric. It is Sondheim-esque, because his work is very similarly atonal. It’s always plot-driven and emotionally driven as opposed to just something in a pretty song.”

The 43-year-old star also admitted that he was “nervous” to sing opposite DeBose, a Broadway performer who has appeared in shows like Bring It On: The Musical, Motown: The Musical, Pippin, Hamilton, and A Bronx Tale.

“When you’re singing opposite Ariana… it’s a big deal,” Pine told Entertainment Tonight in November 2023. However, when DeBose learned her co-star had doubts about his singing abilities, she praised Pine for his talent.

“He can sing! He can absolutely sing,” she told ET. “When I found out that I was cast in this film, I was like, ‘Oh!’ I mean, did you see him in Into The Woods?… I think Chris is one of those examples of not understanding just how talented he is.”

The West Side Story actress continued, “I love the sound of his voice, the way that he molds words. He is a delicious villain. You know people are going to love to hate him, and I just love watching him work.”

Wish is now streaming on Disney+. Watch the trailer below.
